Q: How to Maintain the Thermostat on a 3.8L Engine on 2009 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Make sure to first remove the negative battery cable before servicing the engine coolant thermostat on a 3.8L engine. After that, get rid of the air filter housing and empty the liquid from the system that's above the thermostat. Take out the electrical connector from the throttle body and remove the upper hose connected to the thermostat housing. Afterward, unbolt the housing of the thermostat and remove it as well. In the end, remove the thermostat from within its housing and wipe clean both of the outer sealing surfaces.
