2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser Timing Belt Tensioner Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Timing Belt Tensioner on 2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Place the assembly holding the timing tensioner on the engine and mount the lower bolt, though do not tighten it yet. Installing one of the bracket mounting bolts (M10) 5-7 times toward the tensioner assembly will help align the engine correctly. Twist the tensioner's lower mounting bolt until it reaches 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.), then remove the upper bolt intended for alignment. After that, fit the rear timing belt cover with its screws. Put in the timing belt idler pulley and tighten the mounting bolt to a torque of 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.). You should not use an impact wrench when tightening camshaft sprocket bolts to ensure the camshaft-to-sprocket locating dowel pin remains safe. Hold the camshaft sprockets with the Camshaft Sprocket Holder 6847, tightening the mounting bolts to 115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.). The last step is to install the timing belt.
