2010 Dodge Caliber Steering Knuckle Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove the Front Steering Knuckle on 2010 Dodge Caliber?
A: Before lifting the car and taking off the wheel mounting nuts, remove the tire and wheel assembly. After that, pull out the cotter pin, lock and spring washer from the halfshaft stub shaft. Use a helper's foot or glove to create resistance on the brake so you can take off the hub nut and washer. Lift and pull away the front brake rotor. After removing the screw attaching the sensor head to the knuckle, disconnect the plastic clip at the end of the sensor cable. Turn the wrench, counterclockwise, on the nut under the tie rod end stud to release it. Use Remover 9360 to remove the outer tie rod end from the knuckle, then take the outer tie rod out. Lift out the nut and clamp on the pinch bolt securing the ball joint stud to the knuckle, ensuring you don't turn the bolts attaching the assembly to the knuckle while you remove them. Keep the bolts heads still as you take out the two nuts from the strut bolts and finally remove the bolts with a pin punch. Be sure to gently pull the stud out of the ball joint without piercing the seal by lifting on the ball joint on the lower control arm. Support the half shaft so the inner C/V joint won't separate and then pull the knuckle away from the outer splines on the C/V joint before removing it.
