2010 Jeep Wrangler Brake Light Switch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install a Brake Light Switch on 2010 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Before connecting the brake lamp switch, decouple and insulate the negative battery cable to keep accidental air bag set-off from the SRS away and wait two minutes for the capacitor to discharge. Move the brake lamp switch plunger so it is fully pushed out, then plug the wire harness back into the switch. While keeping the brake pedalainted, set the tabs in the locking collar to line up correctly with the keyed hole in the switch mounting bracket and insert them through the hole until the switch housing sits well against the bracket. Twist the switch housing clockwise about 30 degrees until the tabs grab the bracket, but do not overdo the brake pedal force since this can harm the brake booster. Release the brake pedal and, using little effort, slowly retract it to its regular position, as a ratcheting sound should be heard. After that, set the steering column opening cover on the instrument panel, reconnect the battery negative cable and you're done.
