The Hood Latch is a very important part in Chrysler 300 CARS because of the importance of the hood not to be opened while the car is being driven. This component is placed exactly under front part of the hood so that the important parts of a car such as the engine, the radiator and battery will be shielded adequately. In a general description, the Hood Latch, currently or formerly used in Chrysler 300 models, is not illustrated with any varieties or types or styles, but does not change in its principal function of locking the hood. The role of the Hood Latch in the design of the Chrysler 300 cannot be underestimated because of issues to do with safety and the protection of the car parts.

Chrysler 300 Hood Latch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Hood Latch on Chrysler 300?
    A:
The first step to replacing the hood latch is to disconnect and remove the battery negative cable. Release the left-side cover from the headlamp mounting crossmember and remove the interlocking fastener to take out the right cover. Unsnap and take off the right appearance cover underneath the hood. Put a mark at the location for the hood latch on the front of the headlamp mounting crossmember before you remove it. Pull out the two screws securing the latch to the crossmember and then separate the hood latch release cable housing and cable ball end from the latch release lever. Take the hood latch out of the car. Arrange the hood latch near where the front of the crossmember joins the hood latch release cable ball, so the installation won't bind. Put the latch at the front of the crossmember, then install and tighten the two screws to 28 N.m (21 ft.lbs.). Move the latch up or down as needed for the latch to work normally. Following this, sit the right inner appearance cover onto the headlamp bracket and press down firmly so the clips go into place. Position the left cover so that the height is slightly taller than the inboard end, then fit the interlocking clip to the right cover and push it down until the integral clips clip together. Afterward, attach the negative Battery Cable.
  • Q: How to Install a Hood Latch and Enhance Underhood Appearance on Chrysler 300?
    A:
Relocate the hood latch so its latch lever is right next to the front of the headlamp mounting crossmember and its cable end can be secured to the cable ball. After that, insert the latch toward the front of the crossmember and secure it tightly to the crossmember with the two screws, applying 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs. of force). Move the latch into place depending on your needs for the gate to function correctly. After that, put the right side underhood appearance cover over the headlamp mounting crossmember and press down on it by hand until each of the clips snaps. Join the inboard-facing interlock on the left appearance cover with the matching area on the right cover, then put everything in place against the headlamp mounting crossmember. Lower the left cover into the cooling unit while gently pressing it down. Each essential clip should lock into the receptacles this way. After that, reconnect the negative Battery Cable to your car.
