Chrysler 300M Shock Absorber Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove the Rear Shock Absorber Assembly on Chrysler 300M?
    A:
Pull out the rear seat cushion and rear seat back from the car, lower and upper quarter trim panels, then remove the rear parcel shelf trim. After that, remove the 4 screws, take out the wiring and take down the whole assembly as you detach the rear speaker and its plate. Get the car up either on jack stands or a frame contact hoist and unbolt the rear wheel and tire assembly. Take off the rear caliper assembly from the adapter and store it by hanging it off the bottom of the car, not by the flexible brake hose. If your rear brake rotor spins loose, take it off the hub. For cars fitted with antilock brakes, take the wheel speed sensor out of the disc brake caliper adapter by removing the bolt. Take out the long bolt that is holding both Lateral Links to the spindle. Insert your thin wrench into the hex of the assembly to prevent the nut from turning and then remove the nut from the link stud. Turn off the car, remove the strut assembly pinch bolt and do not strike the strut assembly with the center punch. Punch the center punch into the spindle hole and hit it with a hammer until it jams which helps spread out the spindle casting to detach it from the strut assembly. Strike the brass drift punch into the top surface of the spindle which will push the spindle up and away from the strut assembly. Hang the spindle and related parts from the trailing arm as you lower the vehicle just enough to visit the rear passenger area. First, mark the nuts that hold the 3 strut assembly in place with a rear strut tower. After that, remove the bolts and pull out the strut assembly from the vehicle. Finally, take out the nut, washers and rubber isolators that join the stabilizer bar link to the strut.
