Before servicing the front wheel speed sensor, lift the car, unbolt the wheel assembly and remove the tire and wheel. Following that, separate the bolt attaching the speed sensor cable routing bracket to the strut and then remove the retainer over the speed sensor sealing grommet inside the inner fender. Release the grommet and unplug the speed sensor cable from the wire cable in the car. Disconnect the bolt holding the speed sensor to the
Steering Knuckle and remove the sensor head. If it is frozen and rusty, hit the sensor ear with a hammer and brass punch, moving back and forth. Do not attempt to turn the speed sensor head using pliers when the locating pin is held firmly, because this could damage the component. Start by linking up the wheel speed sensor cable's plug to the vehicle wire harness and then fasten the speed sensor's cable grommet inside the front inner fender. Connect the grommet and retainer bracket to the inner fender with the supporting bolt. Put the speed sensor cable up and through the hole in the strut during installation so it does not touch moving components. Connect the routing bracket for the speed sensor to the steering knuckle and fasten it by tightening the main bolt to 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.). Add some High Temperature Multipurpose grease to the speed sensor head and secure it onto the steering knuckle, tightened to 7 Nm (60 inch lbs.). After that, fit the wheel and tire assembly, bring the vehicle down onto the ground and perform a road test to check the base and ABS systems.
