Before touching the thermostat housing, ensure the engine is not under pressure so you do not get burned by coolant. First, remove the negative cable from where it connects to the remote jumper terminal and empty the cooling system. Lift the car on a hoist and after that, disconnect the connections from the engine and all power steering switches. After that, disconnect the radiator and heater hoses from the thermostat housing and loosen the housing bolts. Elminate the main housing, thermostat and gasket as your first step. Wash the gasket areas, place the thermostat and gasket into the housing and secure everything with bolts. Hook the thermostat and housing to the cylinder block, insert metal shims under each nut as you tighten on 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.) bolt. Reattach the heater and radiator hoses, put on the hose clamps and link the electrical connectors between the engine oil and power steering pressure switches. After that, lower the car, hook the negative cable back to the remote jumper post and top off your cooling system.
