  How to service the in-tank Transmission Oil Cooler and the external bans cooler on Chrysler 300M?

  The radiator services the in-tank transmission oil cooler while the external bans cooler has removal and installation procedures specifically designed for it. To gain access to remove the external cooler, first disconnect the negative cable from the remote jumper terminal, followed by the removal of the radiator upper support before hoisting the vehicle up on a hoist. Afterwards, take away the right and left front wheels, followed by the front fascia. Remove hoses from the external cooler. Remove the air shield attaching to the radiator side. Remove the screw holding the cooler line support bracket and then remove the support bracket. Detach the straps connecting the cooler to the condenser, and also disconnect the transmission oil cooler and lines. The external cooler must be examined to determine whether debris has collected on the cooling fin surfaces. Clean as necessary. Examine all hoses, tubes, clamps and connections for leaks, cracks, or damage and replace as necessary with approved transmission oil cooler hoses molded to fit the available space. Check external coolers for any leaks, loose mounts, or other damage. Replace as necessary. To install the external bans oil cooler, unbolt the A/C condenser from the radiator and lift it up and off from the upper retainers on the radiator. This will allow repositioning of the condenser and access to its rear surface. Detaching the straps on cooler that was cut off earlier, new straps are located and installed on the condenser at the same location. Position and install the A/C condenser on the radiator upper retainers. Install the A/C condenser retaining straps and foam pads. Tighten the bolts to 5 Nm (45 in. lbs.). Place the transmission oil cooler on the A/C condenser by threading the retaining straps through the cooler mount holes. Then position the external cooler lines to the side of the radiator, install the support bracket and screw, then attach the cooler to the condenser with the retaining strap locks trimming off the extra strap material. Join the cooler hoses with the cooler lines and tighten the hose clamps to 3 Nm (28 in. lbs.), install the radiator side air shields, front fascia, front wheels, and radiator upper support. Lastly, connect the negative wire to the remote jumper terminal and then start the engine and check the level of transmission oil.
