To replace the timing chain and sprockets, you should first take off the negative battery cable and pump out all the coolant. Then, open the right and left head covers and get the radiator fan shroud off next. Turn the engine while watching the timing and damper marks until they come into alignment at the TDC and "V8" marks are located at 12 o'clock. Seize and remove the
Power Steering Pump, together with the left and right cylinder head access plugs to gain entry to the chain guide fasteners. The oil fill housing can be taken off to allow you to reach the fastener on the right side tensioner arm and after that, you should remove the crankshaft damper and timing chain cover. Cover the opening to the
Oil Pan with the primary chain tensioner as you collapse and pin it. After that, take the chain tensioners and
Camshaft Position Sensor from the right cylinder head, being careful not to touch the camshaft target wheel. Do not turn either the camshafts or crankshaft by force separately, as it may cause harm. Grab Spanner Wrench 6958 and the Adapter Pins 8346; then, you can remove the left and right camshaft sprocket bolts. With Camshaft Holder 8428A, take out the left camshaft sprocket and rotate it about 15 degrees clockwise to a middle position. Likewise, hold the right camshaft in place with Camshaft Holder 8428A and release the right camshaft sprocket by turning it 45 degrees counterclockwise to a neutral position. Unscrew the idler sprocket assembly bolt and then move both the idler sprocket and crank sprocket forward as you continue to remove both chains. Make sure to take out the chain guides, pivoting tensioner arms and chain tensioner last.
