Chrysler Cirrus Power Steering Pressure Switch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Power Steering Pressure Switch on Chrysler Cirrus?
    A:
Service and repair the power steering pressure switch by first separating the negative battery cable and ensuring it cannot contact the negative terminal. Lift the car and check at the back end of the power steering gear for the power steering pressure switch. Make sure the harness connector is off the switch, then use a crow foot and long extension to pull the switch out of the gear. While inserting the new power steering pressure switch, use your hand to press it until it seats straight, then screw one full turn with the crow foot and extension at 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.), avoiding tightening it too much. Connect the wiring harness back into the vehicle, then make sure the latch is locked into place with the tab. Do not use automatic transmission fluid; only Mopar Power Steering Fluid or an equal can be used for the reservoir. Give the negative cable to the battery, start the engine and steering wheel from stop to stop to bleed the air from the power steering lines. In addition, turn off the engine, check the fluid levels and search for any signs of leaks.
