The Key Fob of Chrysler Concorde is a remote control that operates door locks and other functions by the push of a button. The Key Fob is a compact black device that contains a short-range radio transmitter, battery, and chip. It sends a radio signal that is uniquely coded to the onboard receiver in Chrysler whenever a button is pressed. The Key Fob can usually operate within a range of 15 to 60 feet depending on what is in the way of the user and the vehicle. Through a rolling code process, the code is different every time in order to prevent replay attacks from unauthorized units on the Concorde. Many versions come with lock, unlock, and horn/alarm buttons for quick access. These extra features improve safety when searching for the Chrysler in a packed area. The internal electronics have to be programmed so the code parameters match the Concorde, and a correctly synced replacement Key Fob will restore full operation after loss or damage. The battery usually lasts for three to four years. A dead cell or cracked housing can make the Key Fob inoperative, so having a functional spare ensures easy entry in the Chrysler Concorde.

Chrysler Concorde Key Fob Parts and Q&A

  • Q:
How is the Key Fob Programmed for Remote Keyless Entry on Chrysler Concorde?
    A:
The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Transmitter can be programmed using the DRB III scan tool or by the customer. To program the transmitter with the DRB III scan tool, follow the appropriate Body Diagnostic Procedures. For customer programming, at least one RKE transmitter must already be programmed to add additional transmitters; if all transmitters are lost, the DRB III scan tool is required to program new transmitters. The customer programming process involves pressing the unlock button on a programmed fob for a minimum of 4 seconds to a maximum of 10 seconds with the ignition switch ON, followed by pressing the panic button within the 4 to 0 second range. After releasing both buttons, the BCM will chime, and then any button on each fob to be programmed should be pressed, with the BCM chiming as each fob is learned. To exit program mode, turn OFF the ignition or wait 32 seconds, after which the BCM will chime again.
