You are advised to protect your hands, eyes and wear a shirt fitted over your arms when you are taking out a deployed Driver air bag Module due to substances that may cause irritation. Start by lifting the bonnet and taking the negative
Battery Cable away from the remote battery post. Following this, take the screws out of the steering wheel back cover where the speed control switch is, pull out the switches you find and remove the wires. You don't have to disconnect the switches if remote radio switches are installed in the car. Open the two bolts that are securing the module, pick up the Driver air bag Module and unplug the air bag and horn wires as you remove it from the vehicle. Always replace the
Clock Spring once you install a new Driver air bag Module. For set up, get the clock spring, horn and air bag wiring connectors attached to the module, making sure you fully seat the air bag connector and check that no wires are caught or pressed together. Install the air bag screws and tighten them between 7 to 9 Nm (65 to 85 in. lbs.) and then attach the wire connectors to the speed control switches and reattach the switches, tightening their screws to just over 1.5 Nm (13 in. lbs.). If remote radio controls are fitted, just plug the 4-way connector from the steering wheel into the wire harness and slide it into the tab at the top of the back cover.
