Chrysler LHS Throttle Position Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Throttle Position Sensor on Chrysler LHS?
    A:
Before servicing or repairing the Throttle Position Sensor, turn off the negative Battery Cable, take out the air plenum and remove the TPS electrical connector. After that, pull out the TPS mounting screws and remove the TPS. Be sure that the end of the throttle shaft with the throttle shaft inside, fits into the opening of the TPS and sits against the two tabs inside. If you properly index the TPS, it will turn clockwise a little and line up with the screw holes in the Throttle Body, with a bit of tension once it is in place. If the sensor won't rotate, try putting the throttle in the other side of the socket, away from both tabs. Tighten the mounting screws to 6.2 Nm or 55 in. lbs. Check after TPS installation that the throttle plate is tightly closed and if it is not, install the sensor on the other set of tabs. Next, match up the electrical harness with the TPS, press the air plenum back on and tighten the clamp before finishing with the negative battery cable.
