At the start of throttle body service or repair, disconnect the negative cable from the battery before you take out the
Wiper Arms, cowl screen and cowl plenum. After that, unplug the air plenum from the throttle body, disconnect the bracket that keeps the
Throttle Cable in place and clear away the electrical connector and top vacuum line. Disconnect the throttle body support bracket from the base of the throttle body, then remove the three bolts, too. Pull back the throttle lever as far as possible, remove both the throttle and speed control cables from the throttle arm and then clean both surfaces. Before completing the installation, place the throttle lever fully open and then connect the throttle cable and speed control cable. Secure the throttle body and the bolts with torque set to 11.8 Nm (105 in. lbs.). Secure the throttle body support bracket underneath the throttle body and fasten all the bolts with 20 ft. lbs. torque. Connect the vacuum hose, bracket for the throttle cable and tighten the screws. First, put back the air plenum, then clamp it tightly, before installing the cowl plenum, cowl screen and the wiper arms. Now, attach the negative cable back to the battery.
