  Servicing and repairing the fuel rail for the 3.8L engine means inspecting the Fuel Injector O-rings, replacing those that are damaged and lubricating the remaining ones lightly with some clean engine oil. Screw the retaining wire clips onto the fuel injectors and then install the fuel injector balancer onto the fuel rail. Keep pushing the injectors until the small clips allow them to fit around the support rail and make sure the injectors are facing the proper direction. Once the fuel rail and injectors are joined, push on the fuel rail trough the mounting bolts over the cylinder heads and hand tighten them to 11.8 Nm (105 in. lbs.). Next, plug each fuel injector connector in and secure it, after that join the fuel supply tube quick connect to the fuel rail. Check the intake manifold gaskets and install them, before you move on to put in the intake manifold plenum. Afterwards, attach the negative cable back to the battery.

  Begin by looking at the O-ring seals on every injector before installing the fuel rail on a 3.8L engine and change any that are worn. Put a little clean engine oil on every O-ring and position the Fuel Injectors into their matching cylinders where they were before. Attach the fuel injectors into the fuel rail with the retaining clips and make sure they are properly seated. First apply clean engine oil to the O-ring of each injector at the nozzle end, then set each injector nozzle down into the openings on the lower Intake Manifold and seat them properly. Fix the fuel rail bolts and tighten them until they reach 12 Nm (106 in. lbs.). Insert and join the electrical harness connectors from the fuel injector harness onto the injectors. Fit the intake manifold in place and check the fuel line quick connector is properly attached so no fuel will drip onto the engine and catch fire. Connect the quick connect line for fuel to the fuel rail and place the clean air hose into the Throttle Body. When all cables are done, connect the battery negative wire, tighten the nut to 5 Nm (45 in. lbs.) and use the scan tool ASD Fuel System Test to pressure the fuel lines.
