How to Remove a Shock Absorber on Chrysler Pacifica?

To take out the suspension strut, first lift and hold the vehicle up with a jack, then remove the wheel mounting nuts and the whole tire and wheel. If you are removing both strut assemblies, mark one as right and one as left so you don't get them confused. Afterward, take out the screw holding the wheel speed sensor routing bracket to the strut assembly. Once you take out the nut, keep its stud from rotating by using an open-end wrench to secure it. With the stud in place, take out the nut, then push the stud out from the bracket. Be careful not to turn the serrated bolts that join the strut assembly to the knuckle when removing them. For this part, keep the bolts' heads stable and take off the nuts from the knuckle, then use a pin punch to pull out the bolts. Prepare the right strut assembly using the same approach. While servicing the left strut assembly, unfasten the nuts on the coolant recovery bottle and position it again with the hoses connecting. If you have one, safely take away the wheelhouse silencer from where it sits on top of the strut tower. After that, eliminate the three nuts connecting the strut assembly upper mount to the strut tower, then remove the whole assembly from the car.

First, place the strut assembly into the strut tower, align the studs in the upper strut mount with the holes and tighten the three mounting nuts to 28 Nm (250 in. lbs.). If your car requires it, carefully fit the wheelhouse silencer onto the top of the strut tower. Put the coolant recovery bottle in place on the left strut assembly and fasten it with its nuts. The strut clevis-to-knuckle bolts are serrated and should not move during installation; being unable to rotate, hold the bolts while installing the nuts. If eccentric cam bolt attaching bolts are found on the cam strut, insert the eccentric cam bolt in the bottom slotted hole on the cam strut clevis bracket. Left-side bolts for the strut clevis-to-knuckle are tightened from the rear to the front and right-side bolts are tightened from the front to the rear. For the left knuckle, put the lower end of the strut assembly against the upper knuckle end and attach two strut clevis-to-knuckle bolts with nuts that are tightened to 88 Nm (65 ft. lbs.) plus an extra 90° turn. Treat the right knuckle in the same manner. After that, install the stabilizer bar link mounting stud through the last hole in the strut assembly bracket while turning the nut until you reach 88 Nm (65 ft. lbs.). Secure the wheel speed sensor routing bracket to the strut assembly and join it with a 13 Nm (115 in. lbs.) screw. The next step is to install the wheel and tire assembly, secure it by tightening all mounting nuts to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.), lower the car and handle a wheel alignment as required.
