This Chrysler Pacifica Steering Knuckle is one of the critical parts that demonstrate the strength and durability of the Chrysler Pacifica series. Being another important component in the vehicle construction system, acting as a linkage between the suspension and the steering system, the Steering Knuckle provides homocinic and heterocinic movements to the wheels, thereby making the car easy to drive. Its design differs depending on the type of drive of the Pacifica itself, whether it is rear-wheel (RWD), front, all-wheel (FWD/AWD/4WD), which expands compatibility with different versions of the Pacifica. The Steering Knuckle has several important connection areas for control arms, tie-rod ends and the wheel hub; thus it plays a significant role in the stability of the car and its safety. Frequent checks on the Steering Knuckle is very important in ensuring the Pacifica is performing as expected and at the same time the driver's safety is assured. Over the years, improvements have been made to the development of the steering knuckle starting from the kingpin and moving to the ball joint, which are mostly developed designs that last as long as the car's lifespan and would only be replaced when there is a sign of damage. This reliability is further affirmed by the flashy titles of the Chrysler Pacifica such as the premier minivan of 2016 and the parents' 'premier family car of 2020'. The Chrysler Pacifica Steering Knuckle is equally responsible for adding efficiency and lawn value to the vehicle's handling and this imparts safety and pleasure to the commercial control of the vehicle, which makes them unique in the auto industry. Due to the Chrysler Pacifica Steering Knuckle possessing a strong construction, and also being sufficient to work with different models of Pacifica, this product proves Chrysler to be a company that is dedicated to creating vehicles of optimum quality and with advanced features.

Chrysler Pacifica Steering Knuckle Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove a Steering Knuckle on Chrysler Pacifica?
    A:
Keep the vehicle off the ground by raising it and supporting it, then remove the wheel mounting nuts and the tire and wheel combination. You also need to remove the cotter pin, lock and spring washer from the halfshaft stub shaft. If a friend is helping you hold the front hub still, remove the hub nut and the washer. Take off the front brake rotor first and afterward, detach the wheel speed sensor connector from the vehicle wiring harness connector. It is necessary to unclip the wheel speed sensor connector from the frame rail outer reinforcement, as well, then unscrew the wheel speed sensor routing bracket from the strut. At the knuckle, open the routing clip and take out the wheel speed sensor cable. Grab the halfshaft mating stub shaft by the end and pull or pump it to unhook the splines from the hub splines when sliding over. Free the nut attaching the rod to the tie knuckle by hand, while holding the rod in place, then use Tool C-3894-A to pull the stud out. When servicing the left or right knuckle, lock the bolt heads in place and, using a pin punch, remove both bolts holding the strut to the knuckle and their nuts. Pull the top of the knuckle out and get out the halfshaft stub shaft and bearing. Reach for a bungee cord or wire to keep the driveshaft dangling out from the hub. With a power impact wrench, take off the ball joint nut first and then replace it until it is inline with the top of the ball joint stud to maintain its shape. Hold the Place Press, Special Tool C-4150A, over the ball joint stud and nut and tighten the screw-drive to let go of the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle. Take out the ball joint cap and nut from top of the stud, then take out the steering knuckle from the car. If you must remove the hub and bearing, take the knuckle off by removing its four bolts first.
  • Q: How to Install a Front Steering Knuckle on Chrysler Pacifica?
    A:
If the hub and bearing are included in the knuckle, place them flush at the center and line up the sensor toward the end of the knuckle facing rear. Place the threaded holes in each point and secure four bolts in place, turning them gradually in opposite directions to 65 Nm (45 ft. lbs.). After wiping the contact spots on the stud and knuckle with a shop cloth and Mopar® Brake Parts Cleaner, insert the knuckle onto the stud. Start with the farthest cross pin nut and thread on a new nut, tighten it to 81 Nm (60 ft. lbs.) plus an extra turn with a crowfoot wrench until it can't move any more. Put the halfshaft stub shaft into the hub and bearing, with the strut clevis-to-knuckle bolts secured and not moving. For service on the left knuckle, put the lower joint of the strut in line with the knuckle's upper end, drive in the two bolts that secure the bottom of the strut to the knuckle and tighten them until they reach 88 Nm (65 ft. lbs.) more than 90° twist. Indicate the right knuckle, inserting the bolts so they move forward toward the back. Before you put the outer tie rod stud into the knuckle steering arm, clean the area where they touch and then install it, start the nut and tighten it to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.) plus 180° of additional tightening. Insert the cable grommet of the wheel speed sensor into the knuckle's clip and secure it. Install the routing bracket for the wheel speed sensor to one of the struts, tighten the screw to 13 Nm (115 in. lbs.) and clip both the sensor connector and its routing clip to the outer edge of the frame rail reinforcement on the driver side. Attach the wiring harness to the sensor on the steering wheel next and then secure the brake rotor and the caliper and adapter to the brake booster. Look to ensure that the wheel speed sensor cable does not come into contact with either the brake rotor or any other moving part. Put the washer and hub nut on the stub shaft halfshaft and secure the hub nut with 244 Nm (180 ft. lbs.) torque while a helper brakes the engine. Place the spring washer and hub nut lock onto the hub nut, fixing them with a new cotter pin. Attach the tire and wheel assembly and tighten the mounting nuts to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.), drive the vehicle down, press the brake pedal several times, adjust the brake fluid if needed and do a wheel alignment.
