Before servicing the Air Door Actuator/Motor, check that the battery voltage is sufficient, low voltage could make it lose its calibration. The M1 (I.O.D.) fuse must be removed for at least 60 seconds; after that, the actuator/motor will self-calibrate when you replace the fuse. It is the job of the electric motor or mode door actuator, to position the panel for the A/C system and the bi-level door, so it is best to calibrate the HVAC actuator when installing a new piece. If you disconnect the negative terminal of the battery or remove the M-1 fuse from the instrument panel for 60 seconds then reconnect everything, it tells the software to calibrate. In the event calibration fails, the mode door actuator/motor should be changed, as it cannot be repaired. The actuator is placed on the left upper side of the A/C-Heater housing. Unhook the negative side of the battery and pull out the instrument panel. After that, remove the actuator's electrical connection and use a key to turn off the retaining screws. Pull the actuator straight up, remembering the position of the shaft because it is keyed. Once the actuator has been removed, install it in reverse and position the shaft exactly as before, add the appreciated screws, fit the instrument panel and restore the battery negative link.
