Before you work on the fuel rail, remove the pressure from the fuel system, check the air around you is clear and do not allow any flame or smoke. After you remove the negative battery terminal, undo the screws holding the
Intake Manifold plenum and slide it away from the engine, remembering to cover the intake manifold to protect it from debris. You should find and disconnect the quick connect fitting for the fuel supply tube at the fuel rail's rear end. Add something to these connectors that can show which cylinder they lead to if the numbers are missing. Remove the mounting bolts on left and right ends of the fuel rail and lift the rail straight up from the cylinder head. Remove the plastic retaining clips on the
Fuel Injectors and then pull the injectors out of the rail they are attached to. To install, lightly add clean engine oil to the fuel injector O-rings and then set the clips onto the fuel injectors before pushing them until the clips are aligned. Set the fuel rail onto the cylinder heads and push down on it, tightening the bolts until they reach 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). Put the intake manifold plenum in place and link the negative battery terminal back to the car's chassis. As the last step, look for leaks using the DRB.
