Disconnect the battery's negative cable first, then remove the engine compartment supports and the upper radiator crossmember. After that, unhook the air cleaner intake duct and remove the speed and throttle control cables from the arm and bracket. Take out the electrical connectors from the MTV, TPS, IAC and TMAP sensors. Remove the vacuum lines from the Secondary Runner Valve (SRV) solenoid, Speed Control Reservoir, Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) Valve,
Brake Booster and proportional purge solenoid. Depress the sides facing the door and front of the car until the supports fall away and then remove the bolts attaching the intake manifold. For the lower manifold, pop off the fuel system pressure, remove its coolant and lift off the top intake manifold. Take out the electrical connectors from the
Fuel Injectors and
Coolant Temperature Sensor, remove the heater supply and coolant bottle hoses from the back of the manifold and unhook the fuel supply hose from the fuel rail. Once you remove the nuts attaching the fuel rail, remove them and the injectors together as a group and then remove the bolts of the lower intake and pull out the intake manifold. Always use a special tool when cleaning the mating surfaces of the cylinder head and intake manifold, as not to scratch the aluminum parts with a metal scraper. Watch for any damage, cracks, uneven gasket surfaces and use a wooden stick to clean water passages of dirt. Make sure to clean the sealing surfaces for the upper intake manifold and check that any gaskets you save are not torn, cut or deformed. Put in the intake manifold, use your hands to hold the bolts in on and tighten them up slowly to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). Mount the side intake manifold supports and tighten the fasteners to 28 Nm (250 in. lbs.). After that, fit density manifold support brackets at each front corner and at MTV and attach all the fasteners securely to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). After that, link up vacuum lines, electric wires and the
EGR Tubes to where they are needed, then thread the throttle and speed cables, air supply and upper radiator crossmember, place the pillars at the front of the engine block and link the negative cable back to the battery. When placing the lower intake manifold, clean every sealing area and change the gaskets if they appear damaged. Place the gasket and intake manifold on the head and add the fuel rail and injectors. Finish by installing bolts to the manifold in a gradual, turning manner until torque reads 28 Nm (250 in. lbs.). First, fit the fuel supply hose to the fuel rail, then connect the heater hose on the heater tube at the back of the manifold and after that link the fuel injector connectors and the coolant temperature sensor. To detect leaks in the cooling system, use the DRB scan tool and the ASD relay will only deactivate after 7 minutes or if you turn off the ignition or press Stop All Test.
