When installing the wheel cylinder on the brake support plate, ensure it is positioned squarely (horizontal) to the brake support plate. Begin by installing the wheel cylinder onto the brake support plate and tightening the mounting bolts to 13 Nm (115 in. lbs.). Use new mounting bolts or clean and apply Mopar(R) Stud & Bearing Mount Adhesive or equivalent to the original mounting bolt threads before reuse. Next, install the brake support plate and seal on the spindle at the end of the axle, tightening the support plate mounting bolts to 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.). Insert the parking brake cable into its mounting hole in the brake support plate, pushing the cable housing in until the retainer's fingers lock into place. Hand start the brake tube nut to the wheel cylinder and tighten it to 17 Nm (145 in. lbs.). Lubricate the shoe contact areas on the support plate and anchor using Mopar(R) Brake Lubricant or equivalent, and inspect the brake shoes before installation. Install the pre-assembled brake shoe assembly over the wheel cylinder and the anchor on the brake support plate, then install both shoe hold-down pins from the rear through the support plate and shoes. Compress and install the shoe hold-down spring clips on the pins, followed by the lower return spring. Compress the parking brake cable return spring, install the cable on the parking brake lever, and release the spring, guiding it beneath the retaining tab on the lever. Slide the hub and bearing onto the spindle and install a NEW hub nut on the spindle, tightening it to 217 Nm (160 ft. lbs.). Install the hub and bearing dust cap, and if equipped with ABS, install the wheel speed sensor head into the rear of the support plate, tightening the sensor mounting screw to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). Adjust the brake shoes to the drum diameter using a brake shoe gauge, then install the brake drum. Install the tire and wheel assembly, tightening the wheel mounting nuts to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Slowly rotate the rear wheel to verify that the brake drum lightly drags on the shoes, lower the vehicle, and remove the brake pedal holding tool. Bleed the affected wheel cylinder as necessary and conduct a road test to ensure proper brake operation.
