    How to Remove and Replace the Rear Brake Rotor on Chrysler PT Cruiser?

    It's important to first raise and support the car before working on the rear brake rotor. Then, unthread the wheel mounting nuts and remove both the tire and the wheel. If there isn't enough room for the caliper piston, stand it down a little and pull at the caliper's edge, using the guide pins, to allow the caliper to clear the rotor and knuckle. After completing step 14, take out the two guide pin bolts and pull the caliper assembly off by pivoting the caliper away from the rotor and lifting it above the machined square mounting the adapter has. Fasten the Brake Caliper to the rear strut using a wire or cord instead of handling it to keep the brake hose from being damaged. Take out any pieces holding the brake rotor to the Wheel Studs and then just move the rotor off the hub and the bearing to finish this action.

    Unlocking will void your warranty First, make sure the hub face is clean of dirt and rust by the location of the rotor. After that, set the brake rotor onto the hub and (wheel) bearing, using the studs to help. Afterward, lay the disc Brake Caliper and adapter on the brake rotor and knuckle. The caliper adapter on the knuckle should be secured with the mounting bolts at a torque of 104 Nm (77 ft. lbs.). Following that, screw the tire and wheel assembly onto the mounts with tightening of the wheel nuts to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Drive your car as far as you can onto the hydraulic lift and then drive the brake pedal back and forth. Don't forget to inspect and adjust the brake fluid in the reservoir and take the vehicle for a ride, making a few stops along the way so the Brake Pads settle properly into the rotor.
