  Putting the A/C evaporator housing assembly on a workbench should be done before you remove it from the car. Take off the air distribution housing from the HVAC housing, then remove the air inlet housing. If the sealing foam around the flange is misshapen or broken, put on a replacement. Uncover the foam seal on the upper half of the HVAC housing, remove the screws beneath it and remove the flange. Should the foam on the evaporator or its tubes come apart or be misshapen, you must replace it. Gently lift the A/C evaporator and the tubes from the bottom half of the HVAC enclosure. Before you connect a new A/C evaporator, add 60 milliliters of refrigerant oil to the system. Attach the A/C evaporator and tubes to the lower part of the HVAC housing, where you can see that the evaporator drain is free and the insulators are correctly setup. Connect the flange to the upper part of the HVAC casing and install the two screws, tightening each to 2.2 N.m. Should the foam seal for the flange be deformed or damaged, first remove and replace it and then re-attach it to the flange. Then, fasten the air inlet housing and the air distribution housing onto the HVAC housing and lastly get ready to attach the HVAC housing assembly.

  When changing the evaporator of a left-hand-drive vehicle, remove the heater-a/c housing before matching the evaporator to its existing aluminum plate and fin style. Take off the foam seals on the line connecting the evaporator to the dash and the other set on the air distribution outlets and then remove the fin sensing probe from the harness. Remove the clip and the screws on the upper to lower case retainer, then split the case halves to take out the evaporator. For installation, set the evaporator into the module, close up the case halves and then fasten the retaining clip and screws in place. Attach the fin sensing probe again and place the foam seals over the evaporator line and the air distribution outlets on the dashboard before you attach the heater-a/c housing. After that, evacuate the refrigerant and top it up to finish the procedure.
