How to Service and Repair a Fuel Filler Neck on Chrysler PT Cruiser?

Before servicing or repairing the fuel filler neck, first remove the air cleaner lid and the makeup air hose and then switch off the negative battery cable. Pull the fuel filler tube cap counterclockwise and release the screws that are holding the fuel filler neck in place. Place supports under the back of the vehicle and remove the right rear wheel. Open the inner splash shield in the back and pull off the rear section. If the fuel tank is over half full, remove the fuel. Also, unattach the fuel filler tube hose from the fuel tank neck and simply pull the fuel filler tube out.

How to install a Fuel Filler Neck on Chrysler PT Cruiser?

Start by putting in the fuel filler tube (2) and join the fuel filler tube hose to the fuel tank neck, tightening the clamp until the indicated torque of 4.1 Nm (38 ins. lbs.) is reached. After that, place the rear half of the inner splash shield and lower the vehicle. After that, install the fuel filler neck screws and tighten each to 2.7 Nm (24 ins. lbs.). Afterward, connect the fuel filler tube cap, secure the negative battery cable and then set the air cleaner lid and makeup air hose together.
