Chrysler PT Cruiser Fuel Rail Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install a Fuel Rail and Its Components on Chrysler PT Cruiser?
    A:
Before installing the fuel rail, attach the Fuel Injectors, then apply a little clean engine oil to their O-ring and put them in the cups of the rail. Hold every injector in place with a clip until you're certain, then insert the injector nozzles into the open Intake Manifold and secure them. Put in the remaining 2 bolts on the fuel rail and tighten them with 22.5 Nm (16.5 ft. lbs.) torque. After that, plug the fuel rail wiring harness into the rail and secure the connectors of the fuel injectors. Attach the fuel line to the fuel rail, put the assembly into its original place and use two bolts to secure the thermostat housing, with a torque of 12.5 Nm (110 in. lbs.). Move the clamp for the upper radiator hose back to where it should be and attach the 2 small pipes to the thermostat housing. Fill the coolant system first, then fit the intake manifold and use 2 bolts in the rear at 28 Nm (250 in. lbs.) and 5 bolts in the front at the same tightness. Connect the vacuum lines at the back of the intake manifold, slot the MAP Sensor connector into place and install the cables to the throttle body bracket. Connect the throttle and speed control cables to the throttle body, then put the shield for the throttle assembly in place. Secure the wires at the electrical connection on the throttle body, add the purge hose and put in the throttle body inlet hose, but tighten them only to 3 Nm ±1 (25 in. lbs. ±5) torque. In the end, join the negative Battery Cable and use the San Tool ASD Fuel System Test to apply pressure to the fuel system, looking for signs of leaks.
  • Q: How to remove the fuel rail on Chrysler PT Cruiser?
    A:
Begin by clearing the gas system's pressure and then detach the negative Battery Cable. After this, remove the inlet hose and the purge hose from the throttle body, then pry loose and remove the wiring connection for the throttle body. First, take out the throttle control cover, then take the cable off the throttle body and its bracket. Take out and disconnect the MAP Sensor wiring, then pull the vacuum hoses from behind the Intake Manifold. Unscrew the bolts from around the front and back of the intake manifold, pull out the manifold and cover the intake openings beneath. Drain the fluid from your car's coolant system, release the upper radiator clamp and then disconnect the small hoses from the thermostat housing. Detach the two bolts from the thermostat housing and raise and pull the assembly out of the way; also rotate the upper radiator hose back and out of the way, wrapping shop towels around it to catch any leaked gasoline. Separate the fuel line from the fuel rail, take away all the electrical connectors from the Fuel Injectors and remove the wiring harness from the fuel rail. After that, get rid of the bolts from the fuel rail and remove both the fuel rail and injectors from your intake manifold.
