Service and repair of the hood cable involves first removing the
Hood Latch and the left front cowl trim panel. After that, remove the screws holding the hood release handle to the inner cowl panel and take out the clips connecting the hood cable to the left inner frame rail. Withdraw the rubber grommet at the lower dash and separate the fastener joining the hood cable. Once they are out, you can take off the cable. Pull the hood cable back through the hole in the lower dash panel into the inner frame rail, with the rubber grommet secured against the dash. Secure the cable using the push-in fastener and then mount the hood release handle screws to the inner cowl panel, tightening them to 1.8 N.m (16 in.lbs.) Put on the left front cowl trim, insert the release cable into the clips along the inner frame rail and set the hood latch in place.
