The brake proportioning valve is important part of the braking system of the Chrysler Town & Country as it controls the amount of pressure going through the hydraulic fluid to allow the optimal braking system in the car. This device changes the forces on one or more output lines especially in those cars that are equipped with disc brakes on the front and drum brakes on the back. By regulating the brake fluid pressure, the brake proportioning valve ensures that the rear wheels are not engaged before the front wheels during sudden halts thus instilling order to the car and making it safe to drive. This system is employed by Chrysler Town & Country models to ensure that the car's brake control is effective mostly during an emergency situation. The design of the Brake Proportioning Valve may vary across different model years, but its primary function remains consistent: to decide how much brake force to apply for cornering or when coming to a halt as well as to enhance the stability of the car. This makes Brake Proportioning Valve that is incorporated in the Chrysler Town & Country a very crucial factor in as a result of the need to make the car perform reliably during handling of different routes.

Chrysler Town & Country Brake Proportioning Valve Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Proportioning Valve on Chrysler Town & Country?
    A:
Begin by securing the brake pedal using a depressor for the first 1 inch, so fluid doesn't come out of the master cylinder as the brake tubes are removed. Raise the vehicle and take care to clean the proportioning valve and all brake tubes before contamination occurs. Open the proportioning valve and then pull out its four brake tubes from the inlet and outlet ports. Once that's done, remove the two bolts securing the proportioning valve to the vehicle frame. Slide the bracket out of the way, pull down the valve enough so you can remove its actuator rod from the axle bracket and remove the proportioning valve from under the vehicle. Place the actuator rod into the axle bracket grommet and move the proportioning valve bracket to fit under the rear track bar body bracket. Tighten the attaching bolts of the proportioning valve to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.). Secure the four Brake Lines coming off the chassis to the inlet and outlet ports of the proportioning valve by tightening all tube nuts to a torque of 17 Nm or 145 in. lbs. Remember, the height sensing proportioning valve cannot be adjusted and you must not try to do so. Empty the brake lines to take out all air, set the vehicle on the ground and do a test drive to confirm the brakes are working correctly.
