The Chrysler Town & Country Leaf Spring Bushing is such an extremely crucial device which plays a huge role in the issue of dependability together with performance of Chrysler's popular minivan. Located between the axle and the vehicle, as well as between the body and the chassis, these bushings provide shock absorption for the vehicle's leaf springs and strikingly provide excellent road contact, which helps the vehicle to remain efficient and safe. This part is suitable for several Chrysler Town & Country editions and available made from high-quality materials, rubber or polyurethane, whereas the last one is more durable. This durability is essential since proper working of Leaf Spring Bushings eliminates problems that might affect the control of the car making the driver to drive with confidence. The Chrysler Town & Country has always been acclaimed for its midsized seven passenger layout and high end trappings and the Leaf Spring Bushing is in no small way contributing towards it. It is therefore ironic that the very bushings that assist in linking the leaf springs to the Chrysler Town & Country frame are responsible for the vehicle's general stability and structural caliber. However, the Leaf Spring Bushing targets the automotive market with distinction due to the qualities of improving the ride quality but imposing least force on the other products in the suspension system. Thus, the Chrysler Town & Country Leaf Spring Bushing is much more than just a spare part; it is the part that helps to maintain the vehicle's tradition of comfort and safety that has been long associated with Chrysler and supports its performance, which is why it is considered to be rather popular among car aficionados.

Chrysler Town & Country Leaf Spring Bushing Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain a Leaf Spring Bushing on Chrysler Town & Country?
    A:
Before working on the leaf spring front bushing, you should raise the vehicle on a frame-contact hoist, positioning some arms against blocks of wood on the body sill and the others against the corners, before lifting it to a proper height. Then, put a utility or transmission jack called an under-hoist right under the rear axle next to the side that needs the bushing fixed, making sure the jack just touches the axle. Taking off the lower shock absorber bolt, you should adjust the jack support, as needed, if it bends a bit when unfastening the bolt. After that, take out the four bolts holding the leaf spring front mounting bracket to the body. Using the jack, slowly let down the rear axle until the spring hanging in front is sitting just above the spring pivot bolt. You may use a wooden block to hold the spring while working with it. First, take the forward pivot bolt and the mounting bracket of the leaf spring out and then striaghten the retainer tabs on the bushing. Bolt the Place Remover/Installer, Special Tool TDO1 8459 to the bottom of the leaf spring and bushing, tightening the Set Screw to secure the Remover Plate to the threade shaft. After that, screw the nut to release the bushing from the spring eye. Slide in a new bushing by hand on the inside of the leaf spring eye and fit the Remover/Installer to the original bushing. Fix the Installer Plate (8459-3) onto the shaft thread. Install the bushing into the spring eye by tightly turning the nut until the flange rests flatly against the inner wall of the eye, without overdoing it. Remove the Remover/Installer, turn the retainer tabs to the outside and against the spring eye, put the spring mounting bracket over the eye, then screw in the pivot bolt from the side opposite the arrow. Screw the nut onto the pivot bolt and tighten only enough not to completely secure it yet. Lift the chassis until you see the front mount bracket hit the body and then, using a drift punch for position, secure the four bolts at 61 Nm (46 ft. lbs.) setting. Get the shock absorber jack into place where the lower eye is lined with the threads in the housing, then mount the shock absorber bolts loosely. Extrude the vehicle to the floor, remove hoist arms and the blocking wood and next tighten the front ends suspension spring bolt to 156 Nm (115 ft. lbs.) and the shock absorber bolt to 102 Nm (76 ft. lbs.).
  • Q: How to Install a Leaf Spring Bushing on Chrysler Town & Country?
    A:
Hand-install the new leaf spring bushing into the left leaf spring eye first. Following this, set the Remover/Installer, Special Tool 8459, over the lifting eye and bush of the leaf spring and fasten the Set Screw to connect the Installer Plate (8459-3) with the shaft. Secure the bushing into the spring eye so that it's not completely flush with the spring and there is still some gap between the bushing flange and the spring eye. After getting rid of the Remover/Installer, bend the tabs on the bushing outwards so they press against the part of the spring. Before assembling the bushing, place the spring mounting bracket over the spring eye and thread the pivot bolt through the center, from the outside. Screw the nut onto the pivot bolt and don't tighten it completely right now. Raise the forward mounting bracket using a jack and fit it against the body, using a drift punch to direct the mounting bracket through the hole in the center of both bracket holes and the pilot hole in the body. After the four mounting bolt holes on the bracket line up with their threads in the body, install and tighten the bolts to 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.) torque. Place the jack so the lower eye of the shock aligns with the threads in the axle housing and install the lower mounting bolt partially. Once the vehicle is low enough, take out the hoist arms and the pieces of wood set up underneath it. After that, secure the spring front pivot bolt with 156 Nm (115 ft. lbs.) of torque and the lower shock absorber mounting bolt with 88 Nm (65 ft. lbs.) torque.
