Dodge Caliber Intake Valve Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Measure and Adjust Exhaust Valve and Intake Valve Lash on Dodge Caliber?
    A:
Before you can measure valve lash, remove the engine cover and the cylinder head cover. Turn the Camshaft until the lift side of the lobes is up and measure and keep the readings for the feeler gauges on each tappet. When the clearance is too narrow, remove the camshafts, find out the difference by subtracting the spec from the clearance, decrease the bucket by that amount and put the camshafts back in while checking the valve lash. If the clearance is bigger than allowed, take off the camshafts, find the difference between the clearance and the specification number, improve the bucket thickness by that amount and reinstall the camshafts, checking the valve lash again.
