Dodge Caliber Wiper Motor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove and Service a Wiper Motor on Dodge Caliber?
    A:
Remove and isolate the battery's negative terminal before you handle the wiper motor. Then, disconnect the front Wiper Arms from their pivots and lift off the cowl plenum cover/grille panel that shelters the front wiper module. Take the routing clip off the stud seated in the cowl plenum and pull the green wire harness connector loose from the receptacle marked for the front wiper motor. After that, take out the two screws that hold the ends of the front wiper module bracket to the stamped brackets in the cowl plenum. Bring the front wiper module toward the steering wheel enough to pull the rubber knob-like isolator off the wall on the front inside of the cowl plenum and then lift the whole front wiper module up and out of the cowl plenum.
  • Q: How to Install a Wiper Motor on Dodge Caliber?
    A:
At first, put the new rubber grommet into the rear wiper motor output shaft hole in the rear window glass before doing anything else. Look to make sure the U-nuts are all present and properly installed inside the liftgate. When the rear wiper motor is reinstalled, cover the output shaft taper just below the motor with Mopar(R) Nye Synthetic Lubricant or Fluorocarbon Gel 880 Synthetic Lubricant, to keep away premature grommet failures, more stress on the motor and water damage. Then, insert the lifting motor output shaft into the rubber grommet on the rear liftgate glass, place the motor and bracket together into the U-nuts inside the liftgate panel and affix the bracket to the liftgate using three screws. Connect the hidden wire harness on the liftgate to the wiper motor receptacle, apply the inner liftgate trim again and then reinstall the rear Wiper Arm to the wire harness' output shaft. Don't forget to reattach the negative cable from the battery.
