  For installing the power steering pump of a 2.4L engine, put it back through the exhaust tunnel while following the opposite way it was removed. Attach the pump to the cast mounting bracket and then place the front bracket on, securing it with a nut and bolt, without tightening completely. After that, fit the rear nut and sliding it along with the Drive Belt on the pulley, adjusting it where required. Screw the two adjustment slot bolts and the pivot bolt to reach 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) torque and then attach the accessory drive splash shield. Check the O-ring for damage before you connect the power steering fluid pressure hose; replace it if you find it damaged. Put the pressure line from the pump onto the output side and tighten the connection with a tube nut at 31 Nm (275 in. lbs.). Tighten the clamps on the low pressure return hose which you should attach to the low pressure fitting after cleaning. Put the hose onto the fitting and check that it isn't in contact with any drive belt and that the hose clamps are back in place. Make certain that the entire rubber part of the return hose is wrapped in the heat sleeve to prevent exhaust heat exposure and connect the heat sleeve with secure straps. Install the exhaust system plus all its isolators/hangers and make sure it's safe by securing with four bolts and flag nuts.   First, take out the negative battery cable to isolate and protect yourself before working on the pump. Open the reservoir and insert a siphon pump to draw out all of the fluid you can. Place your vehicle on jack stands or a frame contact hoist to begin working. Unhook the oxygen sensor wiring harness from the vehicle wiring harness, where they are attached together on the rear engine mount bracket. You have to remove the exhaust system to give yourself room to remove the power steering pump. Take out the four bolts and flag nuts that are holding the Catalytic Converter in place on the Exhaust Manifold. Remove all the isolators and hangers that attach the exhaust system to the brackets, move it rearward and lower the front below the crossmember to pull it from the car. Separate the power steering fluid supply hose from the connection on the pump and drain any extra solution. Move the heat sleeve to the power steering return hose and remove the hose; fluid that remains will drain from the pump while you have the hose off.
