Using your hand or a C-clamp, pull all the pistons back into the caliper bores and top them with either a wood block or an old brake pad to protect them. If you need to put on new brake pads in the caliper, do it before you install the caliper. Cover the brake rotor with the caliper and set it so that it can slide onto the knuckle. Put in the caliper mounting bolts and tighten each to a torque of 190 Nm or 140 ft. lbs. Fold the brake hose and guide it onto the caliper. Bolt it on with a banjo bolt and then add fresh washers on each side and tighten the bolt to a torque of 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.). Add the wheel and tire and tighten the nuts that secure the wheel to 150 Nm or 110 ft. lbs. of torque. Park the vehicle on the ground and disconnect the brake pedal holding tool. Link the negative cable from the battery to the battery post to guarantee it is connected properly. If you find the brake pedal feels off after the repair, do a base bleed of the system after you bleed the brakes locally. Insert the washers by the hose fitting, put on the banjo bolt and tighten it to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.). Install the wheel and tire again and tighten the wheel mounting nuts to 150 Nm (110 ft. lbs.) or 190 Nm (140 ft. lbs.) on police models. Bring the vehicle down, unattach the brake pedal holding tool and join the negative Battery Cable to the battery post. To assure you have a good brake pedal, always bleed the area where the repair was made and if you do not achieve good pedal feel, always do a base bleed system. Drive the vehicle for a distance, making many stops as you go, to reduce the buildup on the brakes and to fit the brake shoes.
