With an effective prop or block positioned beneath the hood, make sure the hood is held up during repair work. If the upper gas support cylinder reaches the upper bracket on the hood hinge, disconnect the cylinder end from it. Make a note of where the hood hinge upper bracket sits on the inner hood panel so you can mark it again when reinstalling the hood. Remove the hinge from the hood with the two screws and in the process, position the mark for the hinge lower bracket on the inside of the fender ledge. Following that, unscrew the two bolts at the hinge and lift the hinge out of the hood. Pull the lower hinge bracket upward and clip the screws into the fender hole, so that it is positioned inside the front fender ledge and mount them with 28 N.m (21 ft.lbs.) of torque. Line up the hood panel with the hinge bracket at the top and put in and tighten the two screws using the torque specification. When possible, secure the upper end of the gas support cylinder to the hinge bracket above the door. Once finished, remove the support fixture from the hood, close it and change the hood hinge placement until the hood moves smoothly and fits properly.
