Before you can service the ash tray, cut off the air bag system by detaching the ground
Battery Cable and wait for two minutes so the air bag system capacitor can discharge. Remove the ash receiver and housing unit below the instrument panel. Spread the ash receiver housing to pull the guide/stop pins out of the housing slots in the ash receiver door. Various hinges on the bottom of the ash receiver door need to be unsnapped from the matching pins that are in the housing. Lift the blunt end of a prying tool upward on the push/push latch lever from the top of the housing, then slide the push/push latch lever guide tang out of the keyed part of the slot inside the housing. Pull out the push/push latch lever guide and fit the guide tang into the stop end of the guide slot, align the pivot pin with the pivot hole and press down firmly until you hear it snap. Cutl the hinges of the bottom door onto the hinge pins as you snap them into place. Before spreading the housing, first fit the push/push latch spring's free end into the slotted hole in the housing. After that, test the push/push latch and carefully slide the ash receiver into place on the bottom of the instrument panel.
