Dodge Dakota Fuel Rail Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service a Fuel Rail on a 3.7L Engine on Dodge Dakota?
    A:
When cleaning the fuel rail on a 3.7L, start by releasing the pressure in its system because it does not release when the engine is off. Since fuel rails are sold as pairs, you should always replace them this way and be sure not to split the rail halves at the connector tubes which are not clamped. Be sure not to bend the tubes as you take the fuel rail assembly out. To begin, take out the fuel tank filler tube cap and go on to do the Fuel System Pressure Release Procedure. Fist, remove the negative Battery Cable and then disconnect the Air Duct and air box from the Throttle Body. First, remove the mounting bracket for the air resonator located by the front of the throttle body. Then, loose the latch clip and fuel line from the fuel rail, if you need a tool to do so. Loosen up any vacuum tubes at the throttle body and detach the electrical cables from all six injectors, pushing away the red button and pressing the tab to separate them. Each injector of the factory fuel injection wiring harness is identified with a tag. Afterwards, unplug the connectors on every throttle body sensor and take off all six of the Ignition Coils. Subsequent to that, take out the four fuel rail bolts. Rock and pull the left side of the fuel rail while you clear the holes made in the cylinder head and then move on to the right side until each Fuel Injector has been separated from the holes. The last step is to remove the fuel rail that holds the injectors off the engine. Remove the fuel injectors only after carrying out the right procedure for that operation.
  • Q: How to Install a Fuel Rail on a 3.7L Engine on Dodge Dakota?
    A:
Before you begin with the fuel rail for the 3.7L engine, first see if the Fuel Injectors are installed. Make sure to clean the fuel injector bores inside the Intake Manifold and apply just a little engine oil on each fuel injector o-ring to make installation go smoothly. Place the fuel rail/fuel injector assembly over the machined openings, so each injector lines up correctly inside the cylinder head, taking care not to pull the o-rings too hard. Pres the right side of the fuel rail down until you feel the fuel injectors touch the top edge of the cylinder head, then do the same on the left side. Set the four bolts that hold the fuel rail in place and tighten them up to the specifications in the manual. After that, fit the six Ignition Coils and plug in the electrical connectors to the Throttle Body and every fuel injector to make sure each connector is secure and will not come loose. Connect each vacuum line to the throttle body, mount the air resonator bracket with two bolts on the front side of the throttle body and secure the fuel line latch to the fuel rail and the fuel line to it. I shall start by mounting the airbox over the throttle body and then the Air Duct over the air box. When it's done, attach the Battery Cable to the battery, start the engine and confirm there are no leaks.
