Q: How to install a Steering Column Cover on Dodge Dakota?
A:
Be sure to check all the warnings and cautions included with the instructions before installing the steering column cover. First, fit the opening cover reinforcement (2) and verify that the upper clips are comfortably seated. After that, install the screws (1) and put the hood release handle (1) back, securing it with the other two screws (4). Bring the connector back over reinforcement so it clicks into place, then fix it in this spot. Rout the release rod of the brake through the opening in the column cover while placing the cover over the reinforcement. Work the upper retaining clips (1) into place and insert the side and bottom screws (3). Attach the release rod to the release handle and fasten the attachment clip. Place the end cap and make sure the retaining clips have been moved all the way down.
Q: How to Remove the Steering Column Cover on Dodge Dakota?
A:
It is necessary to read all the warnings and cautions before removing the steering column cover. Separate each section retaining clip with a trim stick C-4755 or something similar, then remove the end cap. Pull the park brake release handle, let go of the clip and remove the release rod. Take out the two screws. Again, with a trim stick C-4755 or an equivalent, pull out the upper retaining clips and remove the cover of the opening. Push the side tabs to pull the diagnostic connector from the opening cover reinforcement. Loosen the screws and take out the hood release handle from the part joining the hood to the reinforcement. Also, take out the two screws from the sides and split the upper retaining clips with a trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, removing the opening cover reinforcement in the process.
