The A/C condenser installed in Dodge Durango is amongst the most important parts of the vehicle's air-conditioning as it performs a function of a heat exchanger. The major task of the suction line is to cool the gaseous refrigerant so that it condenses to a liquid form to be transported to the accumulator. Primarily located ahead of the radiator, the Dodge Durango A/C condenser can easily be struck by stones, dirt and other debris which block airflow and cause clogging of the unit. For many years now, Dodge Durango has incorporated different styles of the A/C condenser intending to enhance the cooling effect. They also have mutual weaknesses, for instance, impacts on the outer shell and internal problems characterised by clogging of tubes because of debris from a faulty compressor. These problems occur due to lack of care and timely servicing of the Dodge Durango A/C condenser hence the need to perform routine maintenance and servicing of the aero space's air-conditioning system.

Dodge Durango A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Ensure Proper Installation and Performance When Removing an A/C Condenser on Dodge Durango?
    A:
Be sure to locate the Radiator and condenser air seals prior to removing the condenser, because these direct air flow through these parts and must be properly installed for excellent performance. Separate the battery negative link first and make sure to remove and collect the refrigerant from the lines. Unplug the pipe fitting joining the discharge line to the condenser inlet, then seal all opened refrigerant fitting ends with suitable plugs or tape. Disconnect the tube from the liquid line going to the condenser and then use tape or plugs to cover the removed open fittings. Take out the two screws holding the radiator and fan shroud module to the upper radiator crossmember. If your car has a V-8 engine, straighten the radiator and take it out of the engine compartment. Take the fasteners out of the condenser that are attached to the upper radiator crossmember, then tilt the radiator and fan shroud toward the engine while paying attention not to rupture the small fins of the radiator. Angle the module and raise the condenser high enough to remove the lower mounts from the isolators under the vehicle. Once done, remove the condenser from the vehicle. Mount the lower condenser supports to the inner part of the crossmember by the isolators and keep the radiator and fan shroud modules tilted forward. Replace the screws that hold the condenser to the upper radiator crossmember and tighten their nuts to 10.7 Nm (95 in. lbs.). When done with V-8 engine models, place the radiator back in the engine compartment and screw it into place with the radiator and fan shroud module. Unlock the refrigerant line fittings on the liquid and condenser outlet, join the two and then tighten the fitting from 230 - 30 in. lbs. Do the same for the line where cooled vapor exits and enters the condenser. Install all condenser and radiator air seals in the correct places, attach the battery's negative cable, deplete the refrigerant system and recharge it. If you change the condenser, insert 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of refrigerant oil, making sure it is the recommended type for your vehicle's compressor.
  • Q: How to Remove an A/C Condenser on Dodge Durango?
    A:
Before removing the A/C condenser, first detach the negative battery cable so it doesn't conduct electricity and then collect the refrigerant from the air conditioning system. After that, remove the push-pins and the seal over the Radiator/condenser. Take out the wire harness connectors from the condenser cooling fan motor and the A/C pressure transducer and slide the wire harness retainers out of the condenser fan shroud, placing the wire harness aside. Take out the securing nuts on the A/C discharge line and the A/C liquid line to the A/C condenser and then disconnect these lines and throw away the O-ring seals and gaskets. Drop off the A/C discharge line from the retainer found on the condenser fan shroud and cover the freely exposed fitting and line of the A/C with plugs or tape. First, loosen the three bolts holding the upper Radiator Support to the upper front crossmember and after that take out the support and move the radiator overflow hose out of its path. Remove the bolt that fastens the fan assembly to the upper fender rail, slowly pull the radiator back out of the way and remove the fan assembly from under the hood. Lay the assembly on a workbench and unscrew the two fasteners holding the A/C condenser in place on the condenser fan shroud, then remove the A/C condenser.
