The front crankshaft seal can be removed by first unhooking the negative cable from the battery. After that, hoist the vehicle and take off the right wheel together with the inner splash shield. After that, take out the accessory drive belt and remove the crankshaft damper. Set Special Tool 6341A on the edge of the crankshaft and use it to screw in the seal, so it engages securely, taking care not to harm the crankshaft seal surface on the cover. When all is done, turn the forcing screw slowly until the seal slides out of the cover.

How to Install a Front Crankshaft Seal on Dodge Grand Caravan?

Be sure to mount Special Tool C-4992-2 Guide onto the crankshaft nose before installing the front crankshaft seal. After step 5, place the seal over the guide so that the seal spring is directed towards the front cover of the engine. Press Special Tool C-4992-1 as far down as necessary to push the seal against the cover. After fitting the seal, install the crankshaft damper and then place the accessory drive belt. After that, add the inner splash shield and the right front wheel to the car. After that, lower the jack and connect the negative cable to the battery.
