Place Special Tool 6780-1 next to the crankshaft accessory pulley and tighten the bolts on Special Tool 8179 until the crankshaft timing gear bottoms against the crankshaft step flange, without turning the crankshaft while doing this. Determine the correct crankshaft timing gear depth by measuring from the timing gear face to the other end of the crankshaft and the number you get should be 39.05 +0.50 mm (1.5374 +0.020 in.). A final step is to install the new main timing chain.
