Lift up on the shift knob to remove it. Following that, separate the electrical connections from the shifter. Unplug the cable going from the gearshift to the shift mechanism. After that, remove all four nuts connecting the shift mechanism to the lower console and take out the shift mechanism.

First, attach the shifter to the positioning studs and tighten each shift mechanism-to-lower console nut to 8 Nm (71 in. lbs.). Following this, join the gearshift cable with the shift mechanism and link the harness connectors. Put the shifter knob into place and make sure the shifter and the transaxle are set to Park. Unscrew the cable adjust bolt, then tighten it again by hand to 6 Nm (40 in. lb.). Install the center console and once done, attach the negative cable of the battery back to the chassis.
