Dodge Journey Automatic Transmission Filter Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair an Automatic Transmission Filter and Fluid on Dodge Journey?
    A:
The recommended time for exchanging fluid and the filter in the transaxle should be observed. Use only Mopar® Atf+4 fluids and change the filter at the same time as the transmission oil is updated. Afterwards, wipe the magnet inside the Oil Pan with a clean cloth. If you open up the transaxle, you should change the fluid and the filter as well. First, put the vehicle up on a hoist and then place a container under the transaxle oil pan. Gently loosen the bolts under the pan, quickly tap a corner to break it free and then drain the liquid before taking out the oil pan. Separate the nuts on the Oil Filter and put on a fresh filter and the same nuts, tighten them to 5 Nm (40 in. lbs.). Use a bead of Mopar® Atf Rtv (Ms-Gf41) on the fluid filter oil pan, then clean the oil pan and magnet, install the new sealant and tighten the bolts to 6 Nm (50 in. lbs.). Pour in four quarts of Mopar® Atf+4, start up the engine and keep it idling for about a minute. After you apply the brake, move the selector lever to all positions before leaving the vehicle in park or neutral. See Check the Flow Fluid Levels by immediate easy rear tire kleu to full fill the fluid so it will be about 1.5 millimeters below the highest mark on the dipstick. After the transaxle has warmed up to 82°C, then it should be serviced. Check the fluid level again after heating the car to 82°C (180°F). Screw the dipstick into the dipstick tube so no dirt can get into the transaxle.
