  You need to release the pressure from the fuel system before serving and repairing the fuel rail on a 3.5L engine. Separate and isolate the negative Battery Cable and after that, remove the upper Intake Manifold. Take out the quick connect line, then mark the Fuel Injector electrical harness connectors with the corresponding cylinder numbers. After that, free all the electrical connectors from the fuel injectors. Take the bolts out of the fuel rail and intake manifold and then shake the fuel rail while injectors are still in it so the seals become loose. Remove the fuel rail from the cylinder heads and drain the remaining fuel into a proper container. Afterward, mark each fuel injector with its matching cylinder number. In the end, take out the retaining clips that hold the fuel injectors on the fuel rail.

  The installation begins by ensuring the O-rings on each Fuel Injector are healthy and replacing any that show damage; the Blue O-ring should be used on the fuel rail and the Green O-ring is used on the cylinder head. Add a little clean engine oil to each fuel injector O-ring before you mount the fuel injectors onto the fuel rail and clip them in place. Make sure every fuel injector is installed securely by looking at the method used by the retaining clip. Those who fit the lower Intake Manifold bolts that are actually fuel rail bolts on a Q2001 or Q2002, must torque them in the following mandatory sequence to 28 Nm (20.5 ft. lbs.). Dread the fuel injector nozzles into the holes in the cylinder head, seat them correctly and attach all of the electrical connectors to the injectors. Fit the fuel line quick connector correctly to keep fuel leaks from happening, since they might cause a fire if they drop onto a hot engine. Link the quick connect fuel line to the fuel rail, put the upper intake manifold in place and secure the positive Battery Cable again using a nut, tighten it to 5 Nm (45 in. lbs.). After that, use the scan tool ASD Fuel System Test to send air into the fuel system and detect possible leaks.
