Before servicing or fixing the exhaust pipe, make sure it has cooled, since it gets extremely hot near the
Catalytic Converter. Hoist the car and spray penetrating oil on the fastener for the piece you are removing, with the exception of isolator joints; spray soap and water instead. Unscrew the clamp on the catalytic converter to intermediate pipe connection, take off the
Muffler and remove the intermediate pipe support isolator. After opening at the slip joint, remove the middle pipe and clean both pipe ends and the muffler so that they match properly. Anything damaged, rusted or worn that holds your boat together-including isolators, clamps, supports or parts for attachment-should be tossed and the replacements made with original or same-quality materials. Make sure everything is perfectly aligned and clearances are okay before tightening clamps while putting it together. Put the intermediate pipe onto the catalytic converter and connect the isolator support to the underbody, then attach the muffler to the intermediate pipe and the isolator supports under your vehicle. Adjust every connection from the front of the truck to make sure the pan is perfectly leveled and has adequate clearance below, tighten all band clamps to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.). Make sure not to tighten clamp clips too strongly, as this can weaken the grip; if you must remove one, take out the nut, peel back the ends of the clamp and pause when you see the spot weld so the new clip clamps in the right way. Finally, hook up the drain system ground strap.
