  The first step is to empty the pressure from the fuel system since it is always about the same, even if the engine is not running. You will find the fuel filter/fuel pressure regulator above the fuel pump module and won't need to peel back its cover. First, put the vehicle up on a hoist and remove the fuel line connected to the Filter/Regulator nipple. Still holding the Fuel/Regulator, push the locking spring tab on the side and rotate the whole assembly 90° counter-clockwise so that it can be pulled out, checking that the upper and lower O-rings are in place. Before you begin installation, grease the O-rings a bit with engine oil and insert the Filter/Regulator in the fuel pump opening. Position the two hold down tabs with the flange. While pushing down, turn the Filter/Regulator clockwise until the tab from the spring fits into the locating slot. Next, connect the fuel line to the Filter/Regulator and take the vehicle off the hoist.

You don't need to take out the entire fuel pump module, as the filter/regulator is found on top inside it. Lift the vehicle on a hoist and then unplug the fuel supply line at the Filter/Regulator connection. Push down on the locking spring tab found on the side of the regulator, then rotate it counter-clockwise 90° until you pull it out of the fuel line. Be sure that the top and bottom O-rings are present. To install, put a little engine oil on the O-rings and insert the Filter/Regulator into the fuel pump module, matching the hold down tabs on the Filter/Regulator with the flange. When you're applying pressure, turn the Filter/Regulator clockwise until the end zips into the slot it needs. Afterwards, join the fuel line to the Filter/Regulator and take the vehicle off the hoist.
