Ball Joint in Dodge Nitro automobile is an important component located between the control arms and the steering knuckles that enable the car suspension and steering system. This component enables free rotation in several planes: meeting the vehicle's reaction to road quality and input from the steering mechanism. Normally made of steel, the Dodge Nitro Ball Joint possesses a bearing stud and socket, which is shielded by a rubber boot to avoid the intrusion of dirt as well as to enhance lubrication of the studs. It is also possible to find loaded and unloaded Ball Joints in Dodge Nitro vehicles. By definition, Loaded Ball Joints support the weight of a vehicle while on the other hand, the unloaded ones are responsible for the direction and orientation of the components they connect by not supporting any weight. There are performane oriented options that include adjustable options of modified suspensions to get durable tires and perfect handling. It is very important since that if Ball Joints become worn out, it will produce noise, misalignment, and abnormal tire-wear affecting the quality of the ride.

Dodge Nitro Ball Joint Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install a Front Lower Ball Joint on Dodge Nitro?
    A:
Apply very heavy lubrication to the threads of the tool before you put in the front lower ball joint to make it last longer and run smoothly as you fit it. Press the ball joint (4) firmly into the control arm (3) with tools C-4212-F and install the tool heads of 9654-1 and 9654-2. Pound in the ends of the ball joint flange at each even side of the flange using a hammer and chisel. After that, place the Steering Knuckle, then attach the Tie Rod End to the steering knuckle. If the car comes with halfshafts, correctly place and tighten the nut on them to 136 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Install the Brake Caliper and rotor next and then install the wheel and tire assembly. Air pressure should be checked and you should finish with a wheel alignment.
