A Pinion Washer in itself is a hardened steel spacer that regulates endplay, preload, and prevents walking of the yoke and nut under a load. Installation of Pinion Washer would require parking on flat terrain, chocking of the wheels, and turning on the parking brake. Mark the driveshaft and the yoke in a manner that you can match them up later then unbolt the driveshaft and lower it. Use a breaker bar to remove the pinion nut, lay the yoke aside and pull the old washer. Clean threads and check bearings and seals and then slide new Pinion Washer onto the shaft, lubricate threads with new lubricant, and refit the yoke. Adjust the nut to a preload of the factory, rotate the yoke to ensure easy movement, reattach the driveshaft and look out any leaks during a brief test drive.
