Dodge Ram 1500 Clutch Release Bearing Parts and Q&A

  • Q:
How to install a Clutch Release Bearing on Dodge Ram 1500?
    A:
Check the bearing slide surface on the retainer at the front of the transmission and if it looks scored, worn or cracked, change the retainer first. After that, confirm that the release lever and pivot stud are both safe and undamaged, with the stud secure; replace bent or damaged fork spring clips. Put Mopar high temperature bearing grease on the release lever pivot surface, pivot stud, bearing retainer slide surface and input shaft splines. Then, fit the release fork and release bearing and make certain they are properly held in place with spring clips, with the release lever's raised area on the rear side pointing toward the side of the transmission where the slave cylinder is. After everything else is done, put in the transmission and transfer case.
