Begin by taking out the transmission and the transfer case if you have it and next take out the spring clip (6). Take off the
Release Bearing (4) from the release lever (3) and free the bearing. Examine the bearing slide area of the transmission front bearing retainer; if it is worn, cracked or scored, change it out. Make sure the pivot stud and the release lever won't move, the stud is not broken and the fork springs aren't damaged; change the spring clips if they appear bent. Apply Mopar (R) high temperature bearing grease to the splines of the input shaft, the inside surface of the bearing retainer slide, the lever pivot ball stud (1) and the input shaft release spring lever pivot area. Attach the release fork and release bearing, secure each with spring clips and set the position of the release lever so that the raised part on its rear faces the slave cylinder in the gearbox. After that, replace the clutch housing if it was not attached, then place the transmission and transfer case.
