Do not work on the instrument panel until after disconnecting, isolating and waiting two minutes for the air bag system capacitor to run out. Take off the front seat assembly, the left cowl trim panel and then the
Steering Column Cover. At the brake pedal, release the connector between the instrument panel wire harness and the bulkhead wire harness. Only if required, remove the steering column and then the left A-pillar trim. Apply a C-4755 or similar trim stick to the notch under the left instrument side cover to push it out, then remove the three bolts holding the left side of the instrument panel to the dash panel. If the car has those, remove the floor console and the Brake Sled from their I/P Bolts, then take out the two bolts that connect the instrument panel to the center of the floor panel. Take away the right A-pillar piece and the instrument panel side cover by the trim stick. Detach the headliner wire harness connector where it's attached to the A-pillar, then remove the
Glove Box from the instrument panel. Remove the bolt that holds the instrument panel to the HVAC housing at the back of the glove box opening and then remove the right cowl trim cover. Take the two instrument panel wire harness connectors out of the connectors on the body wire harnesses on the right breaker panel and remove the antenna coaxial cable wire from the connector on the radio coaxial cable located there. Open the access covers on the fence line bolts and then open the three bolts that attach the right side instrument panel bracket to the dash panel, then remove all of them. When needed, raise the carpet so you can take out the ground eyelet fastener from the ORC/YAWL Modules, unplug the electrical connector and move the wires out of your way. Pull the instrument panel up out of the cowl panel with help, then remove it from the vehicle.
